Job Description:

Our client, a leading international shipping and logistics group operating across Africa, is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager for its operations in West Africa. You will own the local books, month-end, tax and reporting. The role reports to Group Financial Manager



Responsibilities:  

• Own the local accounting, month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare Group reporting under IFRS and statutory accounts under SYSCOHADA/OHADA
• Ensure compliance with local laws, tax regulations, internal controls, and group accounting policies.
• Coordinate audits (internal and external) and manage relationships with auditors and advisors.
• Ensure accurate and compliant tax filings, including VAT, corporate tax, and withholding taxes.
• Maintain strong internal controls and risk management practices.
• Drive continuous improvement and standardization of financial processes.
• Own and manage the country/business unit financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close.
• Act as a finance business partner to operations, sales, and management teams.
• Support pricing, tenders, contracts, and commercial negotiations with financial analysis and recommendations.
• Evaluate new business opportunities, investments, and strategic initiatives.
• Provide financial guidance to improve profitability, efficiency, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with regional and group finance teams to align reporting and strategy.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Fluent French (essential).
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and OHADA accounting standards, with experience operating in Africa and/or multicultural environment.
• Hands-on approach: Personally responsible for executing the accounting functions, rather than solely overseeing or reviewing the work.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline, with professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, or CIMA) considered advantageous.
• Extensive experience in finance, accounting, or financial controlling, preferably within logistics, freight forwarding, or related industries.
